Hello, hi, how r u?
I hope you’re well! What have you been upto? It’s nice to be writing and talking to you regularly again. I feel like I’m sliding back into a little flow.
A big part of that, I think, has been moving to a radio show format. I’m still nervous on the mic, but I finally feel like I’m able to share the music how I want you to hear it (and bring my enthusiasm for it all off the page and into your ears!). I had some lovely messages after the first show (in the last letter, here), and so I’m really excited to share this months with you.
I always spend a lot of time picking the music out for the mixtape, but I’m finding for the radio shows, I’m even more considered with what I’m playing; trying to bring the new together with the old, the obvious with the more obscure. It’s so much fun. The floor in my record room, was, at one point, totally covered.
Given the show goes out live at midday on the first Saturday (on TheBoatPod, here), I’ve decided to play around with the musical story a bit. So I’m going to try and gently ease you into the weekend, and then slowly crank the energy. This month that means starting with a laid back, almost balearic atmosphere, and ending up in some heavy amapiano and future bass territories.
Jazz for the mind, techno for the body, disco for the soul. Always.
As usual, there’s a bunch of links to interesting things below, and the show itself, a way to buy all the music from the show, and a link to a Spotify playlist for those that like it that way.
Can’t wait to hear what you think - would love your thoughts and feedback, and just to hear from you in general too!
See you on the dance floor,
Jed x
PS. If you're new here then this is how it works. Here’s what you’ve missed so far.
